AGILE BEAST - Whole Body Fitness 

​

What is “fitness training” and how is it useful for dancers, for humans? Join me in locating both dance and fitness-specific training within the broader context of Human Movement. We’ll analyze and refine the strategies and concepts of ‘fitness training’, including: stretching, strength training, “the core”, cardio, high intensity intervals, “naturalistic movement”, balance, and sports.

BIOGRAPHY​

​

Sebastian Grubb is an award-winning dance artist and fitness trainer in San Francisco. He has performed with many local dance companies and choreographers since 2008, especially AXIS Dance Company and Scott Wells & Dancers. Sebastian’s commissioned choreographic works for AXIS have been shown in 8 U.S. states, in Russia, and on FOX TV's "So You Think You Can Dance". Sebastian has been honored with an Isadora Duncan Dance Award and also received the CHIME award, a choreographic mentorship project of the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company. He became certified as an Axis Syllabus teacher in 2011. His parallel career in fitness coaching began in 2006 and he now runs Sebastian’s Functional Fitness, an outdoor movement training program in the hills of San Francisco. He holds multiple trainer and health coach certifications and in 2014 was crowned the Champion of the “Battle of the Best Trainers”. Learn more at www.sebastian.fit and www.bodywagging.dance
